Taking care of yourself

One of the important things that I have learned over the past couple of weeks is that no matter what fitness you are, you still need to take care of yourself. Even if your fitness level is low and you are suffering through a lot of health problems, that there should be enough motivation to make some changes. Also, even if you think are in good physical shape, you need to make sure you are not exercising with bad form, stretching, warming up before your workouts, etc.

I work out 5 to 6 days a week with dreams of becoming a great natural professional bodybuilder. The problem that I have is that I’ve been seeing things from a small perspective up until I went and go x rays done at Northwest Wellness. The doctors told me that I need to be extra cautious when dealing with weight more than my body for continuous motions on most days of the week.  That’s when it hit me. I usually go to the gym, exercise, and then leave. I don’t take into account a proper warmup, no stretching, no foam rolling, etc and it’s getting to me as far as my joints, tendons, and other physical pains.

With all of this fitness knowledge and I don’t even apply all of it on myself, I feel ashamed and now I’m paying for it. How could I help people with their fitness levels when I’m suffering myself? So I urge all of you to make sure that you aren’t just focusing on just one aspect of fitness no matter what your fitness level is. What’s the point in being physically fit and yet you are dealing with all of these ailments that could have been prevented along the road on your fitness journey? Warm up, stretch, workout, cool down is a great pattern to start with. If you want, you could throw in some foam rolling, massage therapy, and other modalities.
