The Benefits of Group Exercise Classes

Here at Northwest Wellness in Federal Way, we offer group exercise classes in both TRX and Vinyassa Yoga.  TRX is the use of uspension training bodyweight exercise which develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously.  Vinyassa Yoga is "breath-synchronized movement," which utilizes a series of yoga poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling promoting flexibility, core stability and strength.

You might wonder why you should take these classes in a group setting rather than just develop a routine at home.  Here are some great reasons to exercise in a group setting on a regular basis.

  • You are led by a qualified instructor in a safe environment.  This will insure you are doing the exercises correctly, safely and obtaining the maximum benefit

  • You work out at the same time each day or week which helps you make that commitment to your health and fitness

  • It’s more fun!  Exercise can be monotonous or boring.  Finding a group that encourages you in your goals and even makes you laugh will keep you motivated.

  • An appropriately designed class includes warm-up, cool-down and flexibility in addition to the conditioning section. When people exercise on their own, they often skip portions of a workout they know less about or are not their favorite to perform.

  • A fitness professional is not only designing the components of the workout, but also the intensity, so the class is designed appropriately to improve cardiorespiratory and muscular fitness.

  • Working out with a group encourages accountability to your exercise friends and your fitness goals
