Sir Isaac Newton was one of the greatest scientists and mathematicians to help revolutionize the world with his Three Laws of Motion which are the foundations for modern day science and technology.
After working in the fitness for as long as I have and hearing different success stories about exercising one of Newton’s Laws comes into effect.
Newton’s First Law-The Law of Inertia.
“An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.”
People have different motivation factors, people have different dreams and hopes, people also have different goals. If we were to break down Newton’s First Law and apply it to fitness then it would be safe to say “A person at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an outside force.” That outside force can be in any type of form from a personal trainer, a close friend to help hold them accountable, or simply for health reasons thoroughly expressed by the family doctor. Many issues with being inactive can range from hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, and even some cancers.
The second part of Newton’s First Law “An object in motion stays in motion” can be a metaphor for someone that’s already physical active and have found a way to factor physical activity into their day routine. Being innate to working out, and developing a lifestyle will help keep you from all sorts of health issues in the future. Once you have factored this into your daily habits then it’s hard to divert back to a sedentary lifestyle.
Now we can see that Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion applies to our lives from motion, to technology, to our very own physical fitness. Get out there, get active, and take advantage of the different motions and movements that your body can do.
