Give Thanks

Thanksgiving is in two days which makes this a great time to reflect on what we’re most thankful for. For me, I am most thankful for my boyfriend and our two cats, my sister, close friends, family, my work family, my career and the patients who enrich my life. I try to remind myself to give thanks not just during this time of year but everyday. So when I tell friends and loved ones how much I appreciate them they aren’t taken aback, they just simply know through my actions that they are always thought of and never taken for granted.

Top ways to show appreciation or gratitude:

  • Gifts: this can be one of the easiest ways to show your gratitude. Flowers, candy, or a gift that you know would mean a lot to the person (which may require some research and creative thinking).

  • Telling the person face to face how much you care.

  • A thank you card or post card.

  • Share food. This is a lot of fun especially with co-workers. Prepare one of your favorite dishes to share in the break room

  • Taking the person out for a meal or experience (i.e. movies, zoo, museum)

Random acts of kindness are a great way to make others smile and make a difference in a stranger’s life. Whether you’re in line for Starbucks and want to pay it forward or holding the door open for someone who is obviously struggling; it’s so easy to give back and help others.
